Scrotum Surgery

Scrotal surgery refers to surgical procedures performed on the scrotum — the pouch of skin that contains and protects the testicles. These procedures may be done for medical, cosmetic, or reconstructive reasons.

If you’re experiencing pain or some other symptoms in your testicles or scrotum, talk to a urologist. An accurate diagnosis is the first step toward an effective treatment.

Common reasons for scrotal surgery

Types of procedures

What to expect

Scrotal surgery is usually performed under either local or general anesthesia, depending on the specific procedure and patient needs. It is often done on an outpatient basis, allowing patients to go home the same day. The length of the procedure varies depending on the complexity of the condition being treated.

Recovery

Swelling and bruising are common during the first one to three weeks after scrotal surgery. Wearing supportive underwear is recommended to help reduce discomfort and provide stability during healing. Ice packs may be used to minimize swelling, especially in the first few days. Patients should avoid heavy lifting and sexual activity for several weeks, and full recovery typically takes between two and six weeks, depending on the procedure and individual healing.

We understand that the idea of scrotum surgery isn’t a pleasant one. Our board-certified urologists and medical staff will be with you every step of the way, answering your questions, making sure you’re comfortable, and following up post-surgery.
